We are minutes away from famous wineries & hilltop towns, Etruscan villages, Roman ruins, medieval walls, Renaissance architecture, fortresses, museums and exquisite trattorias, countless astonishing specialty markets, festivals, concerts and fairs. While at Fontarronco you will have the pleasure of experiencing our incredibly fresh unadulterated olive oil. If you wish, we can offer you a tour of the frantoio where our olive oil is milled or perhaps just a simple stroll through the groves.

Our friends enjoy biking through the countryside and stopping at quaint trattorias for lunch or wine tasting with local delights. We also love to host concerts throughout the summer, either in our private chapel or in the formal gardens. We can arrange a private concert for you if given appropriate advance notice.

Although we no longer have horses at our stables, we can arrange horseback riding with friends. They will take you through the lovely Tuscan countryside while stopping for an unforgettable lunch at a castle that overlooks the valley or wine tasting at a small local farm.

One of the most recognizable equestrian centers in Italy is located only 10 minutes away from our door, Arezzo Equestrian Center has many different international events throughout the year.

Every weekend there are festivals in surrounding villages, some of our favourites are the medieval festivals such as the, “Giostra del Saraceno”, “Gioco del Pallone Grosso”, “The Palio dei Rioni”, & “The Giostra dell’ Archivado” – each festival is extraordinarily entertaining, educational and simply fun! The townspeople come out to cheer on their Quarters. They are undeniably loyal to their Quarters with a devotion that dates back as early as the 1300’s.

All surrounding villages host Sagra’s celebrating 0 mile (local) food specialties. These Sagra’s are great fun and a perfect way to engage with the locals while celebrating their culture. We highly recommend attending one while you visit. The Bistecca (Chianina steak), Vino, Specialty Pasta’s, Cocomero (watermelon), Gnocco dolce (dessert), everything Cinghiale (wild boar done grilled, roasted, sausage and ragu of wild boar with fresh made pasta etc.), everything Ocio (duck grilled, roasted and ragu of duck with pasta), sagra of the Crostino (many different varieties of crostini), Struzzo, Tortelli (fresh stuffed pasta), Ribollita, Ravioli, Pappardelle (type of pasta), Pizza, Tartufo (truffles), Tagliatella (fresh pasta), Gnocchi, Fungo Porcino (everything porcini mushrooms), Pane (everything bread), Pecora (everything sheep), Polenta and Olive Oil are just a few that come to mind.

Hilltop villages within 20 minutes drive, including Cortona, Monte San Savino, Arezzo, Montepulciano, Castiglion Fiorentino, Foiano, Civitella in Valdichiana, Sinalunga and Lucignano with a central town square, museums, art galleries and specialty restaurants and shops. If your wish is pure relaxation – our home is magical for that. Many of our friends arrive with healthy intentions of exploring all that our region has to offer, however after a few days they relax into their charming surroundings at Fontarronco and never have the yearning to venture out.
